The social network Web site Change.org has launched a new volunteering portal with listings powered by VolunteerMatch.

Change.org is a natural fit within the VolunteerMatch network -- especially given the organization's mission and location. The San Francisco-based group aims to transform social activism by serving to connect like-minded people, whatever their interests, so they can exchange information.

Now, thanks to some back-end techno-wizardry, Change.org's members can access the 41,000-plus (and growing) opportunities at VolunteerMatch.

"We want to empower people to advance change through all means available," said Ben Rattray, founder and CEO of Change.org. "That includes fundraising, volunteering, and taking political action. If you care about social change, we think involvement in each of these areas is important."

Our new partner joins DoSomething.org as the latest social action "dot-org" to recognize the benefits of linking with our network. To quote Tim O'Reilly, one of the original promoters of the Web 2.0 movement, "The network is opening up some amazing possibilities for us to reinvent content, reinvent collaboration."
