This Training Course will be involve youth leaders and workers, the members of different youth groups, communities from all Europe countries. The main aim of the project is to assist the members of the human rights and minority NGOs, young people in Europe in gaining knowledge of basic mechanisms and experiences of human and minority rights promotion; establishing contacts and networks, finding new partners, exchanging information, fundraising; and obtaining technical skills to get access to relevant information in the field with a specific emphasis on information technologies.

The main theme of the TC will be as following ?the respect of others' rights is respect of my rights?. Participants will also requested more information on specific articles of the conventions, expressing a growing interest in international human rights treaties.

The course is designed to give participants the opportunity to experience and reflect upon activities and concepts central to human rights education based on experiential learning approaches. The working methods of the course will facilitate the exchange of information and will provide training for the development of new competences. The projects and experiences of the participants will serve as a basis for reflection and discussion of good practice. The course is also designed as a mutual learning situation, where participants can compare their approaches to training and to human rights education across Europe in a dialogical intercultural approach and environment.

During the training course the participants will discuss positive ways to learn about different cultures and how to participate fully in the identification of culture which will affect their lives. In 6 working days by hosting representatives of cultural institutions and participants will assume ways defining other cultures and meaning to be European even living in completely different conditions and ambience. There will be a good possibility for the approach with young people from different Religions and Beliefs.

Training Course Content:

The Training Course is designed as an open learning process based on experience and exchange. The multicultural groups of participants themselves will create a Network for intercultural learning and a framework for personal development. The course programme and contents will organize so as to allow for the maximum involvement of the group while valuing every single participant using active participatory methods. The learning process heavily relied on the practical experience provided by the project work. The participant?s project will see as both a tool for learning and also as a concrete initiative that is expected to contribute to improving the participation opportunities of minority young people at local level.

Training Course aims and objectives:
To develop an understanding and skills of working with intercultural learning, identity, culture and human rights of the participants.To develop participants. skills in the areas of human rights education, leadership and programme development, project management and intercultural learning;

To help young participants learn about the ideas, concepts and strategies of human rights through engaging in meaningful dialogue, promoting critical analysis, encouraging self-reflection and fostering action.

To identify ways of associating and involving young people, from the broad spectrum of social and cultural diversity, in the campaign.To analyse and discuss the threats and obstacles to equality and diversity experienced by young people in Europe.To celebrate living diversity in Europe and to promote the visibility of diversity in and through the campaign.

Training Course Activities

Organizing human rights workshops and training courses for young people, Youth Workers from different country youth organizations.An introduction to the approaches and structure of Training Tool Kits, the manual on human rights education with young people. An introduction to the key instruments and activities of the European Union Youth in Action Programme in the field of human rights and human rights education; Opportunities to share experiences and challenges of developing human rights education in formal and in non-formal education settings. Opportunities to experiment with and to evaluate different methods and activities found in T-Kits. Providing participants with relevant information concerning Youth in Action Programme and to observe, discuss, question and analyze the goals and objectives of the programme.

Target group:

  • Applicant youth leaders, Youth workers, Youth Trainers, Project managers from youth NGOs, Youth Group, Youth Networks, Youth Organisations leaders that want to apply in the YOUTH IN ACTION Projects in the future
  • Youth NGOs, Youth Group, Youth Networks, Youth Organisations that wants to apply for this project to their National Agency to host it in Sheki, Azerbaijan
  • Active members of organizations and youth groups, local youth councils willing to develop further activities and act as multipliers within their organizations
  • Be motivated to develop their knowledge and competence the specific field and to share their experiences with other participants
  • Have some experience in developing youth activities in local/national level and be well informed about the activities they were involved and be prepared to present and explain their function to other participants
  • Commit themselves to their function for future activities in the field of youth policy and be prepared to pass on the others the knowledge and skills gained during this activity.


Conditions:

The training is scheduled for late in September 2008 and will be hosted in Sheki Azerbaijan Republic. Financial support is under the European Commission?s ?Youth in Action?-programme granting scheme. If approved, all costs will be covered except for 30% of the international travel and visa costs. Organizations from all 27 EU member countries plus Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Turkey, YOUTH IN ACTION PROGRAMME countries are eligible to apply and EECA countries to take part. The working language of the Training Course is English.

Countries:

All European Union countries, plus Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Turkey are eligible to apply for this project. YOUTH IN ACTION Programme countries that has National Agency in their country. That?s why we are looking for applicant organisations.

Time plan and venue:
Submission: 1st April 2008, submission of the application form under Youth in Action Programme.
Date of the Training Course: September, 2008
Venue: Sheki, Azerbaijan

Group and duration:
Group: 2 representatives from 1 Youth Organisation, Youth Groups, from 15 countries chosen in an open call. One of the partner organisations in ?Programme Country of YIA? will be an applicant that will apply for this project to their National Agency. Now we are looking for this applicant organisation:
Duration will be 6 full working days (plus 2 more days: arrival and departure)

If you like the idea and the content of this activity, and if you want your organization to apply for this project and thus be entitled to nominate for participants, then let?s start to WORK, we have already wrote draft application form of this Training Course (Action 3.1 project application), We just need to make all the last changes and to apply. So that?s all to make it successful.
