The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, in partnership with the

The conference entitled “Low-cost smart technologies to fight poverty and

The issue of cultural minorities is becoming a real burning issue for most of the European countries including the EU partners. The number of minorities is growing up. At the same time in some cases these minorities are becoming less integrated in the societies. They become more closed within their own groups, trying to preserve their ethnic or cultural identity. Correspondingly the majorities demonstrate growing distrust to the cultural Others. The minorities often turn to become the marginal groups not only in terms of well-being, but in terms of social recognition and participation as well. This is why we would like to involve more young people from minority groups into the European youth program. The Youth Program is a powerful tool which can be use to increase the possibilities and chances of minorities in Europe.
Living in society can be difficult, especially when you are gay minded or face some other identity. This can raise even more issues when you are dealing with different cultures. 'Who am I within an intercultural group?'
The seminar is organised by the Hungarian National Agency of the Youth Programme. The theme of the seminar is "EVS as a tool for inclusion of young people and possible co-operation across borders".

Equitas will be holding its 27th International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP) in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec, Canada, from June 11 to June 30, 2006. This annual, intensive three-week program brings together around 120 participants from approximately 60 countries.
On the 29th of May we are holding, at the University of Napoli
Federico II, a workshop on multicultural cities (see the call below).
The idea is to meet up to discuss our research findings and possibly
come up with some ideas for a large scale research project or at least

'For gays and lesbians, today's Poland is like 1930s Germany,' he says. 'We are ruled by a fascist party, which uses the same language and ideas as Hitler.' Human Rights Council have failed and the best result would be for the resolution to be adopted by consensus, Human Rights Watch said today. Should the U.S. force the proposal to a vote, it is likely to encourage abusive governments to weaken the council with their own amendments, or to compel the General Assembly president to withdraw the reform proposal altogether.

The chairman of World Islamic Call Society, Mohamed Ahmed Sherif told a press conference in Brussels on Thursday (9 February) that the cartoons of Mohammed published first in Danish daily Jyllands-Posten, fuelled extremism. "Nobody should blame the muslims if they are unhappy about the images of the prophet Mohammed," Sherif said coming out from a meeting with EU justice commissioner Franco Frattini in Brussels. "It’s forbidden to create a hate programme to show that the prophet is a terrorist while he’s not," he stated. "Don’t ask us to try to make people understand that this is not a campaign of hate."

Programul urmareste sa contribuie la asigurarea unui nivel inalt de protectie a sanatatii publice incurajand cooperarea intre statele membre si a celor ce urmeaza sa adere. Pe langa cele 25 de state membre a Uniunii Europene pot aplica pentru acest porgram si tari precum Bulgaria, Romania, Turcia, Liechtenstein si Norvegia. Acest program a fost stabilit prin Decizia nr. 1786/2002/EC a Parlamentului European şi a Consiliului European, din 23 septembrie 2002.
Bursele oferite prin intermediul acestui program sunt pe termen scurt, având o durată ce variază între o lună şi şase luni, în intervalul 1 septembrie 2006 – 31 decembrie 2007. Ele au în vedere pregătirea specializată la nivel post-universitar. Candidaţii trebuie să fie specialişti promiţători cu înaltă calificare, care urmăresc să desfăşoare studii de cercetare avansată sau să-şi potenţeze abilităţile şi cunoştinţele privind cele mai noi progrese din domeniul lor de studiu sau activitate.

Experiencing the New Europe , is a three-week international summer program, which combines classroom study with on-site experiential learning to explore cultural, political and economic transformation in the newly integrated Europe. Through its interactive curriculum, Experiencing the New Europe , studies how large processes of geopolitical change (the fall of Communism, democratization, European integration) play out in the local setting of a large European city and its inhabitants.
