The Human Rights International Film Festival of Paris strive to promote and showcase some of the best documentary films made each year on human rights issues internationally. Each screening is followed by a Q&A session between the director, field experts (NGOs, academics, journalists...) and the audience.
1. Mission and objective.
We understand human rights in the broader sense. A non restrictive list of themes include : Arms control (landmines, disarmement, …) / Children's Rights / Corporate responsibility / Counter terrorism / Cultural rights / Death penalty / Democracy / Environmental rights / Economic, Social & Cultural Rights / Free speech / Geopolitics (globalisation, wars /conflicts,...) / Governance and institution building / Health(HIV/AIDS, …) / Humanitarian affairs / Human rights defenders / International Justice /Labor rights / LGBT Rights / Media
/ Micro credit / Migrants / Minorities issues / Non Governmental Organizations (profiles, campaigns,...) / Protection of th environment (issues, actions...) / Refugees / Social development / Torture / War crimes / Women's Rights / United Nations (Security Council, Human Rights Council, UNPD, ...).
We invite applications from both established & emerging documentary filmmakers, to take part in France's only festival dedicated to human rights.
2. How to apply ?
Interested filmmakers may send us an email to contact@alliance-cine.org with the following information :
- Director's name and film's title
- Film synopsis and filmmaker bio
- Country and year of production
- Film's running time and format
- Category: investigative report or creative documentary
- Complete contact information
Please do not send attachments. We will not open them. Include all relevant information in the body of your email. All emailed submissions will be reviewed carefully. We will contact you if we are
interested in receiving a DVD copy of your film. Any unsolicited film will not be considered for the festival. The festival does not charge any fees for submissions. If your film is considered for the festival, be advised we do not return DVDs. The festival does not send out rejection letters. We will contact the filmmakers whose films are accepted to participate in the festival.
3. Limitations.
Only films running at least 45 mn may apply. We do not handle short films.
Films need to be produced after 2007.
4. Upcoming deadline.
Please note that submissions for the 2010 edition of the festival will
run until August 1st 2009.
