Training course on quality aspects of EVS projects

Why this training course?

Our Association is a sending and host organisation (EI Reference: 2007-PT-9) and  we would like to develop our competences on sending and hosting volunteers, to learn how to support learning process of volunteers and mentors within EVS activities, to explore how we can support growth of our volunteers personally, socially and professionally, to discover possibilities of Youthpass within EVS, to gain explore ways how we can cooperate with sending and coordinator organisations with all over Europe, and last but not at least we would like to promote this host place to other sending, host and coordinator organisations in order to create good and sustainable partnerships with them.

What is our overall aim?

To rise quality of EVS projects by rising awareness and understanding of mentors, sending coordinators and EVS coordinators directly working with volunteers about quality aspects of EVS projects according to proposals and priorities of Youth in Action programme. To increase participation of young people in the planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation and follow up process of EVS focusing on their personal, educational and professional development.

 

What are our objectives, which will lead us to achieving the aim?

To clarify the challenges of European Voluntary Service regarding to content and methodology, non formal education and informal learning process, intercultural learning and impact on local community;

To explore possibilities and motivate mentors and supervisors for higher involvement of EVS volunteers into all phases of EVS projects (planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation of EVS projects);

To explore intercultural dimension of EVS project;

To raise understanding about concept of key competences, Youthpass and role of the mentor in supporting EVS volunteer in developing Youthpass;

To provide opportunity to reflect upon participants learning process using different tools and to make Youthpass at the end of the training;

To strengthen the cooperation between mentors, sending coordinators and representatives of coordinator organisation;

To motivate long term partnerships in EVS among participants, following quality aspects and priorities of Youth in Action programme;

To reflect on participants’ experiences and create recommendations for management of next projects within the programme “YOUTH in ACTION”

What is our approach?

The training course will follow the “non formal education approach”. A combination of different creative and interactive methods and techniques will be used by the trainers team and designed upon the profile of participants.

Some of the examples of methods, techniques and activities that are going to be used in this training course:

reflexions

case studies

discussions

outdoor activities

 

The entire course is designed as a mutual learning situation in which, using diverse methods, participants can compare their approaches and experiences within EVS. Trainers will establish a theoretical framework and common reference points for learning and communication in this course. The course methodology foresees direct involvement of the accredited EVS organisations that will be present at the training course. The course programme and contents are organised to allow for the maximum participation of the group using active and participatory methods.

 

Who can participate?

Representatives of host and sending or coordinating organisations from European Union;

Aged over 18;

Mentors, directly working with volunteers, having experience of organising at least one European Voluntary Service project;

Sending coordinators, directly working with volunteers, having experience of organising at least one European Voluntary Service project;

Coordinators, directly working with volunteers, having experience of organising at least one European Voluntary Service project;

Ready to take part in the whole training course;

Have organizational support for further activities with EVS projects;

To be able to communicate English language.

 

How many people can participate from the same organisation?

We can accept participants from the same organisation from 2 up to 3

 

Financial conditions

The food and accommodation will be provided and paid by the organizers. 70% of travels costs will be reimbursed either by bank transfer after the course, or at the end of the course in cash. It may be that money from European Commission will be late; in that case, as mentioned, you will get your reimbursement after the course by bank transfer (be ready for that). The participation fee will be 20 Euro.

Preliminary Programme Agreement (Part III)

If you are interested in being a partner in this project, we are kindly asking you to send the preliminary agreement form (which is called PART III of the application form), by email to educae@acv.org.pt. The form is attached as a separate document and you will find already the name of the project, so you just need to fill in empty gaps.
