“Difference meets tolerance”
Intercultural learning as the educational concept
for youth exchanges, volunteer services and support measures
in the framework of the YOUTH programme
International training course
for youth leaders and youth workers
from all YOUTH programme countries
from 5 to 11 March, 2006 at Haus Venusberg e.V., Bonn, Germany
Details: This is a training offer for those who would like to know more about the concept of intercultural learning as a pedagogical approach for youth exchanges, activities within the volunteer service or within support measures in the framework of the YOUTH programme. Many youth leaders have already had significant intercultural experiences themselves but have difficulties to put intercultural learning as a planned and structured process into practice and into projects.
This is where this training course comes in: Starting from the experiences of the participants we will actively deal with elements of this concept during the training course through experiential learning. We will focus on aspects of social attitudes, modes of perception and the resulting behaviour because they are determinant elements of any process of intercultural communication and interaction. The active involvement of participants will be an integral part of the entire learning process.
Accordingly, we will deal with conditions for intercultural learning and we will reflect on culture and cultural identity. Further on we will work on competences that young people and youth workers need to develop to be intercultural competent.
Working language: English
Conditions of participation: No participation fee, board and lodging are free. Travel costs will be reimbursed at 100% on the basis of the cheapest possibilities upon presentation of the original tickets.
Organizer: IKAB e.V. on behalf of JUGEND für Europa, German National Agency for the EU-mobility programme YOUTH, www.webforum-jugend.de
Team of trainers: Annette Mütter, Paul Kloosterman, Ragnheiđur Stéfansdóttir
